II: REQUIREMENTS FOR DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES:

GENERAL ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

EXCEPT FOR THE DIPLOMA OF MEDICAL & PHAMACEUTICAL SCIENCES THE GENERAL REQUIREMENT IS TO HAVE A-LEVEL WITH ATLEAST ONE PRINCIPAL AFTER O-LEVEL

1: Diploma in Computer Science

(a): Direct Entry: The Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) ‘O’ level with passes in at least four approved subjects including a pass in Mathematics  AND One of the following combinations of passes in the Certificate of Advanced Secondary Education Examination (CASEE) or East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) ‘A’ level or equivalent:

(i)                   One principal level pass in either Computer Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Commerce, Geography or Accountancy and a subsidiary pass in any of these subjects    OR

(ii)                  A Form VI certificate with at least two subsidiary level passes in the subjects listed in (a) (i)  plus at least two years of industrial experience  OR

(iii)                 A University of Dar es Salaam Certificate in Computer Science with an average GPA of at least 3.5

(b): Equivalent Qualifications

An ordinary National Certificate or Diploma of a good standing or a qualification of an equivalent standard awarded by     recognized bodies like NBAA, NACTE, IFM, etc, OR Certificate in Computer Science recognized by NACTE or/and TCU.

 

2: Diploma in Law

(a)Direct Entry Requirements

An Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or its Equivalent with at least One Principal level Pass OR

(b)Equivalent Entry Requirements

A Certificate in Law with, at least, a second class pass level

 

3: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (DMLS)

The programme is hosted by RUCO but under the auspices of Weil – Bugando University College of Health Sciences.  It is a 3 year programme.

(a) Direct Entry requirements:

An “O”-level certificate with credit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology

       N.B:  Biology and Chemistry should be major subjects.  OR

(b) Equivalent Qualifications:

The applicant should be a Medical Laboratory Assistant with at least 3 years of  work experience and pass a Special    Selection Examination set or recognized by RUCO e.g. the selection Examination of the  Muhimbili University of Health and Allied  Sciences  (MUHAS).

 

4: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPS)

The programme is hosted by RUCO but under the auspices of Weil – Bugando University College of Health Sciences.  It is a 3 year programme.

(a) Direct Entry requirements:

An “O”-level certificate with three (3) credits in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and A-Level Certificate.

(b) The applicant should be a Pharmaceutical Assistant with at least 3 years of work experience and pass a Special    Selection Examination set  by RUCO.

 

5: Diploma in Business Administration

i) Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with the minimum of four passes

AND

ii) Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with one principal.

OR

A certificate of Business Administration from an accredited institution.

 

6: Diploma in Library and Information Studies (DLIS)

Applicant for admission into the Diploma in Library  must hold:

a)       An Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE) with one principal level passes.

OR

b)       Form IV with four passes and any other certificate.
